THEY ALWAYS WANT SOMETHING ELSE

I went on a happy misadventure yesterday. Mid-route on the bus into town two gigantic trees had fallen, totally blocking the route into the city centre and out of it. I was going to have to think of some other way of getting home (as an alternative direct route does not operate on Sundays!).

While I was out and taking several buses in another direction, my neighbour sent me several garbled messages reporting she couldn’t change her clocks because of rheumatism (it’s not true, I know she’s capable but she’s lonely).

So there was nothing I could do as I was miles away but within minutes of getting home (I literally mean minutes!). She was calling me again and leaving a message then I hear a knock on the door.

For a little while I stewed. Do I carry on with what I want to do or, to save more irritation, do I go over? I did the latter. Easier, get her out of my hair. She insisted I sit down but I stuck to a firm no and was in there for a matter of minutes. Lord save me from emotionally-vampiric people. In fairness she is quite nice (moving out soon to a private nursing home) but there is always something.
