You are not a blank slate, no, no, no.
You have reflexes, instincts, inherited wisdom – inherited dysfunction too!
You also have you guts, your eyes, your ears, your intellect and intelligence. You’re nobody’s fool but, maybe, just as I have done, you make act towards your own demise – and also like me, you might have done it more than once.
We’re gluttons for punishment, so we are and I believe that, whether we admit it or not, we know, deep down, what we’re doing. I have postulated that we are drama lovers and I still hold to this for the most part.
Here’s the kicker for this article though, there are times we need to put our feet to fire for more time than seems necessary to hammer the message home. A bit o’pain! We have to feel it.
Of course, when we’ve reached the other end of the Shawshank Redemption tunnel, we’re left having to wash all the shit off and it’s really annoying (at best!), rage-inducing? Yes, very often.
That’s why I keep saying, as soon as you can, be honest, own up to your own behaviour and be an adult. The sooner you’re over the pain, the sooner you can live your own life.
