I believe one of the fundamental dichotomies of life is finding how we can be useful to people without sacrificing our own senses of self, our souls.
There’s no doubt we need people, we are social beings but of course it has to be the right people, in the right context.
Truth be told, I am not much for company at the moment. I see my parents regularly now we three live in the same village again but it isn’t every day. I see people in the shops, say hello to fellow villagers and sporadically have a chat with them in the street.
But friendships, relationships, it is not the season for that for me right now. I want to create, I want to ponder, I want to stand on my balcony and admire the fabulous view – I want to do it silently (which presents its own challenges living in an apartment block.
There is always a price to pay. I aim to be as peaceful as possible but sometimes I falter, that’s just life.
Figure out your own balance and focus on that. I am understanding more and more how I’ve allowed myself to be taken for a ride and never consulted properly.
Always remember, it’s your life.
