What you realise is everyone has their preferred term for how you and they behave.
Granted, everyone thinks they’re right, and they’ll go out of their way to prove it, even when you openly disagree.
We were told, growing up, everyone’s the same, everyone wants the same things, we’re all wired identically. If you pay any kind of attention, you’ll realise this simply isn’t true.
Different clothes, different tastes in whoever they fancy, different approaches, different weather, different living situations, different jobs, different amounts of friends they want, the solitude they want, the peace they want, the drama they want.
Different, different, different, different.
And the funny thing is we seem to think this is a problem. I’ve heard so many people say we used to be able to disagree and it was fine but I honestly see that this has never been the case. We want to romanticise, we want to rose-tint, we want to think that now is the only time there have been problems. We know this isn’t true.
Do you. It’s a clichéd phrase but it’s the best one, at least that’s what I believe.
